There’s something about “Trends” you wear it and you’re the new cool of the season. You see that piece of item and it looks so pleasing to you. I mean it’s always been there but never had that effect on you or you could even care less when you see it but now you gotta have it and if “you gotta have it” then “you gotta Style it too” That’s what I’m here for ๐Ÿ™‚

Don’t be overwhelmed, I’m here to help

How to style the dress over pants | Thisthingcalledfashionn

Can you spot how many Trends?

Mom Jeans: Thrifted (Yaba Market), Shirt Dress: Shop Maju, White Mules: Gbemisoke from Heels.com.ng, White Sunnies: Online Store @all.thingschic

This started as a “Dress over Jeans” Trend; an attempt to document my Look as inspired by a fellow blogger TheSvnflwr of DrapedinBasics but while I was putting this look together realized more than one trend coming together and I’ll be sharing ‘How To’ infuse each trend into your look this new year.

MULES
Heels or flats whichever would do. This is my first pair of mules which is kinda strange cause this trend has been hot since late 2016 and it’s January 2018 now. It’s better late than never. Mules are quite easy to pull off with flat mules the style/design determines if it can be used to dress up/down an outfit. If you’re going for heels then you’re dressing up the Look in a casual but not too casual way.

It can be worn best with Jeans, dresses, skirts. You can go over the top by pairing them with socks (net, transparent or plain cotton socks)

STRIPES

I have always had a thing for tiny stripes not bold stripes or multicolored stripes. I like to keep it simple, I go for any color with white stripes for eg: \red & white\ \Black & white\ or in this case \Soft Pink & White\. Stripes can be worn casually and definitely to work.

MOM JEANS

Yess the jeans that make your ass look flat, I can not be the only one who thinks this Lol, I still love it regardless find it quite comforting and like any regular jeans can be worn with anything. Love pairing my mom jeans with shirts or a bodysuit. The shirts give it a more masculine look, while the bodysuit adds a moreย  sexy feminine vibe.

DRESS OVER PANTS

The main look of the day, “How to style a dress over pants”.ย I have done this a couple of times but I never taking a picture to share with my fashionistas. Since its such a trend now I’ll share a few tips on how to nail this look:

-Go for Jeans: The easiest thing to do is go for jeans, straight, frayed, ripped, mom Jeans. whichever your taste is. Don’t get me wrong you can totally use regular pants too.

-Let the dress be short/a maxi with slit or at least an opening: Y’know if we don’t see whats under we might never know you wore a dress over anything. Go for a mini dress, wrap dress, maxi dress with a sheer bottom or a slit.

I decided to use thisย  shirt dress I got last year. It’s pretty much the easiest thing to pull off this look. Tucked it in at one side for more style. I would have let it all out (no tuck in needed) but then I’d love to throw on a jacket (Nigerian weather is hot enough, excess clothing not needed)

  1. With how invested I am on your blog, I’m starting to delude myself into thinking I’m a fashionista ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿ˜’
I love wearing my mom jeans with a bodysuit, but I’m definitely trying this look rightnow!
