“Nigeria is a mad house, Lagos a madder house but Life? Life can be tough”

What does Protecting your Sanity mean to you?

Sanity is maintaining a good state of mental health. Protecting your Sanity is finding ways to help keep your mental health in check and with the growing suicide rate I thought I share a few ways to help keep you sane in this Mad World called “Life”

I would be lying if I told you I’ve never questioned what this Life is truly about, what the purpose of my existence is. I think it’s necessary we all do it helps define our life’s. The major thing is how we get through it, here are a few routines that work for me:

Have a SAFE SPACE

Have a safe space You can always escape to, that you feel safe in & makes you happy. You can relax in & at-least regain some form of sanity. It mustn’t be your room, for me it’s the cinemas, I watch a movie I like helps me take my mind off a certain reality into a virtual reality, I spoil myself with food while I watch the movie. I always feel refreshed & a step closer to regaining my sanity.

Take TIME OUT

Take time out work or school because your mental health is as important as the money you’re trying to make. Take a short break, rejuvenate & come back stronger. Don’t be scared or feel to important in your place of work cause the truth is if anything happens to you, you’ll definitely be replaced.

DETOXIFY your social space

I’d like to think Social Media plays a huge role these days. Take time out to detoxify your social media. If you’re an Instagram addict like me, Cleanse your following list get rid of the people who constantly make you compare their life’s to yours, that make you lust over material things making you worry & feel less appreciative of how what you’ve achieved actually you don’t even recognize it cause you’re constantly comparing your life to an Instagram worthy lifestyle you’re not even sure of what the person is going through in reality. (Ps: I’m not saying everyone on IG is living a fake/unhappy life but once you realize we are all hustling to attain/maintain a certain lifestyle in This thing called life it becomes a lot more easier.

Do Something DIFFERENT

Change something about your lifestyle, your daily routine ? The arrangement of your room? The food you eat? Music you listen to? Decongest your room? Talk to someone new?

Try something from the usual. Change helps

UNPLUG

Put off your phone for 24hrs, stay off social media for a day, rest your eyes, rest your mind, stop worrying about everything.

Stay POSITIVE

Last but not the least, make a decision to stay positive. Be intentional about it. That’s the only way to get through life Stay positive & hopeful, always remember there’s always something better coming no matter where you are now.

Life is a process never forget that.
